Lawyers in the Dominican Republic are known as 'abogados' which is the Spanish term. There are now many Dominican lawyers who speak fluent English, German, French and many other languages or in some cases, foreign lawyers who have officially registered and are able to practice here.

Most foreigners will use a local Dominican lawyer and a notary in order to buy a property. Your lawyer will ensure that the paperwork is correct, that the property you are considering buying is free from any liens, and that the sale goes through without any iregularities.
