Sorry, I posted a blank field by mistake. I am coming to SOsua in either September or Octobr to stay for a month.I was told by an agent that I could rent a secure one bedroom apartment for $350. I am thinking about buying a small beach bar/ chair rental kind of place. My brother, who has lived in Costa Rica for 40 years, has a different view of what secure is than I , as a gringo, do. He says not to brink a laptop, expensive watch or camera. He also says not to stand out too much but for someone that has been a musician and artist my whole life, that might not be too easy. Can anyone comment on this or give some advice? Thanks. Gary

There aren't too many tourists around at the moment, so if you run a bar/beach chair, don't expect to make loads of money straight-off - whatever an agent tells you!
Its fine to bring a laptop, many of us have one - just be careful. I have an expensive camera too.
Never wise to flash around expensive jewelry though - just use common sense and you should be fine.
