Following my last informations regarding residence and driving licence, I like to inform the non informed that it cost now RDS 3000 to renew your CEDULA.My one had expired end of december 2010. Also be WARNED that from end of March it will cost the GRINGOS RDS 500 a month penalty.The Junta Electoral in santo Domingo is at the roudabout of 27 th of Febrero and avenue Luperon.As a passing comment more than 6 millions of Dominicans have got old cedulas, NO penalty for them !!!!GRINGOS keep forking out.

Wait for election time and find someone to do it for 500 pesos. It is free for Dominicans , but you might get a big reduction since every body is getting it free.

Finally why would people living here would want to get a residency ?? too expensive, too far to go (twice)in santo Domingo. Therefore one live here with no papers until they get done eventually by the police and immigration. (two gringos last week were checked with no residencia, nobody knows what happened).SO the word of advice is get your papers and don't be surprised if one day you get checked out with dire consequences. You have been warned .
