I would like to know what phone, apple, blacberry, ipad etc; is the best to have here in the DR where you will get the best value for the money. I really don't understand the tele system here, is it 3g, 4g, etc etc.

I just need something good that I can communicate within the country and not spend a ton of money. I will get a plan (if that's the cheapest way to go) but I don't know what to get, I need at least 350 minutes a month, if there is a tech savy individual that can help me I would certainly appreciate it. I can always buy the phone in the US and have it brought here since phones/ipads/ etc are EXPENSIVE, but I need to know what to get!!! PLEASE can any Tech savy person educate me!

Apple & Blackberry both work here, but probably only 3G.
Depends what sort of communication you want. A plan will work out cheaper, especially if you want 3G. Claro & Orange will both be able to sort you out with this.

You can also bring over an unlocked phone and it will work fine. Have done that several times.
