The Ministry of Health has reported that the 158 emergency government hospitals will be strengthened from Thursday with beds, medical personnel and extra prescription drugs for possible contingencies that may arise during the Easter holiday.
Five hundred members of the Electoral Military Police will be placed in the busiest areas to prevent disturbances and obstructions of traffic by political propaganda activities during the Easter holiday.
163 beaches and rivers are to be closed for Easter as they have been deemed too dangerous to use at the holiday time by the emergency and rescue authorities.
The Eastern province of San Pedro de Macoris is the one with the largest number of sites closed with 24. La Romana also has some closures.
Santo Domingo is followed with 20. In the National District, beach bathing is banned at Guinea by Civil Defence as part of the national plan as well as; San Souci, Charco Manoguayabo, Puente Palave Bienvenido, El Ocho de la Victoria, Yabacao El Cabreto, Presa de Taveras, Presa el Pinalito, Presa de Bao, Balneario de Boqueron, Balneario Charco de la Garza, Balnerario Ro Bajito, Playa Hawai, Balneario el Cocal Ro Soco, Balneario Charco las Siete Aguas,and playa los Almendros.
In the South there are closures at San Cristbal, Peravia, Azua, San Juan de la Maguana and Barahona.
In the North and Northwest affected sites are at; La Vega, Santiago, Espaillat, Valverde, Santiago Rodrguez and Montecristi; and in the Northeast; Monte Plata, Snchez Ramrez, Monseor Nouel, Mara Trinidad Snchez and Saman all have restrictions on some bathing spots.
