19 DNCD officers sacked, makes 50 removed in 7 months

The information was given by the head of the anti-narcotics agency, Maj. Gen. Rolando Rosado Mateo, who also revealed that five other officers had been removed because they had not filed their affidavits by the due date. Those released were three colonels from the Police, Navy and Army, while two captains were expelled from the Air Force for the same reason.
The names of those removed were not disclosed by Mateo, but he noted that the new mechanisms for the treatment and control of the conduct of members of the DNCD has meant that more than 50 officers have been removed or brought to justice over the past seven months.
The head of the DNCD said that, among the new mechanisms for monitoring performance of officers, he has initiated a series of consultations with authorities and representatives of municipalities to assess the behavior of DNCD members. "The final result was the dismissal of 19 officers, including 7 colonels and a number of subordinates," said Mateo.
The DNCD chief said that the process of investigation would continue until all the errant officers had been removed.
The polygraph, or lie detector, has been used by the head of the DNCD for the past two months in coordination with the United States Embassy, as part of the partnership deal with the drug agency to provide credible personnel.
"Some officers do not pass the test because they have been engaged in misconduct now or in the past," said Mateo. He added that all commanding officers who fail the polygraph will be removed, regardless of rank.
