2011 Was a year of great interest to workers Dominican, because from the first quarter, trade unionists, the Ministry of labour and to employers, were concerned that employees in the private sector received an increase in salary.

After several discussions between employers and workers, the National Committee of wages (CNS) decided a wage increase of 17%, which was not much liking for trade unionists, as it benefited only partners who earn the minimum wage and was left to those who were over the top.

The President of the National Confederation of Trade Union Unity (CNUS), Rafael Abreu, said that 2011 was a year in which the progress of the working class were very few, because, were nuanced over a wage dispute though he had an important meaning as they broke the barrier of the 15% increase for employees who earn the minimum, u000anot filled with the expectations of workers

"We have the disadvantage that we could not break the business vision to hold the salary discussion only to the revision of the minimum wage, then many workers who were in expectation to the possibility that there is increased beyond the minimum were frustrated their hope because employers were commissioned to abort dialogue that did not exist the possibility of another increase in wages.

"

Said that this year, a fact that drew the attention of the trade union sector was that public workers with a capacity of pressure, such as doctors, nurses and teachers got a pay review, however the employees who are in ministries and other public institutions, failed increases in salaries, despite the fact that they have more than four years who do not receive increase.

CNTD
the President of the National Confederation of u000aWorkers Dominicans (CNTD), James Ramos, said ye el year 2011 found employees in the midst of an economic crisis that product of low wages, were minimize their purchasing power levels more low.

He said that the past year he stood for the working class, by the implementation of wage increases which filled no expectations of any of the workers.

Everyone knows that the inflation that has occurred in the country was not compensated for the salary increase that occurred. Us seeking to a living wage, which according to the main quintile, this should be of RD$ 23,000, however, the wage is still below the RD$ 10,000 ", pointed out.

CASC
while this year there was a salary increase, the working class was not very happy, because the purchasing power of these increasingly was reduced by the increase in the prices of the products of u000amass consumption. Thus considered it the President of the Confederation autonomous trade Clasista (CASC), River Gabriel.

"This year the purchasing power of workers declined, because they increased the prices of the products, although increased wages, there was not a good balance between wages and the cost of living" indicated.

COPARDOM says that the State is responsible for

the President of the employers Confederation of Dominican Republic (Copardom), Jaime Gonzalez, considered that the year 2011 had a very positive point for the workers, which was an increase in wages in a shorter time for what he believed.

On little purchasing power of wages of workers, Gonzalez said that the State has a key role in this matter, because to the extent that the country has stable basic services, the wage of the workers had more power.

Explained that expenditure on education, u000ahealth and energy directly affect the wages of workers, which is why the State must offer better these services.
