2 business owners prosecuted for power theft
posted on: Jun 25 2010 10:51 by Royston. Viewed 1059 times.The owners of an ice cream factory in Santiago and a television station in San Francisco de Macoris have been prosecuted for violating Law 125-01 governing electricity theft. 
The accused were Jos Antonio Cabrera, owner of "Helados Cabrera", and Genaro Romeo Gonzlez Hidalgo and Emelin Antigua, top executives of television channel 49, of San Francisco de Macoris.
In both cases, the Deputy Attorney General for Electricity System was accompanied by technicians from EdeNorte and a Deputy Prosecutor.
Investigators at the TV channel found cables attached to the supply before the meter and leading inside the building to power various pieces of equipment.
While in the operation carried out at the premises of "Helados Cabrera", in Ensanche Bolvar, Santiago, the owners were found to be running a 240v supply through a double switch.
