The bodies of two unidentified men were taken to the morgue at the public hospital in Cabrera and Juan Alvarez, the Deputy Prosecutor, will later move them to San Francisco de Macoris.
He said the men had been killed by gunshot wounds after a chase lasting since 10:00pm the night before.
The medical examiner found no documents to identify the suspects, but a gun was recovered which had apparently been used in the attack on the home of Cathy Beraidy Michel and wounded a police inspector, Major Carlos Cuevas Mendez, while he was pursuing the men.
There has been a string of assaults in recent months in Nagua against French, Spanish and American residents.
