8 degrees today shook the region of Atacama, in the North of Chile, without causing casualties or visible damage, said the authorities.
Tremor occurred at the 08.43 (1143 GMT) local time and its epicenter was located on the Mainland, near the coast, 64 kilometres southwest of Copiapó and some 750 Santiago, with its hypocenter 75,6 km of depth, it informed the Institute seismological of the University of Chile.
The National Bureau of emergency (Onemi) said that the tremor was felt with an intensity of four degrees of the Mercalli intensity scale in Copiapo, the regional capital, internationally as well as in the towns of boiler and Yellow Earth and two degrees in other towns of the area.
Early, to the 08.28 local time (11.28 GMT), an earthquake of 3.9 degrees covered part of the regions of Maule and Bío-Bío, the Centre and South of Chile, with its epicenter 40 kilometers south of Linares and u000asome 350 of Santiago, with its hypocenter 89.5 kilometers underground, according to the University of Chile.
This earthquake was perceived with intensities of three degrees Mercalli intensity scale in cities such as Chillán, Linares, Parral, Longaví, conception and Bulnes, said the Onemi.
During the early morning, at 00.26 GMT on Wednesday, another tremor of 4 degrees of magnitude, affect regions of Valparaíso and Santiago, in the Centre of Chile.
This earth shock had its epicentre 39 kilometres south-west of the Ligua and about 150 Northwest of Santiago, with its hypocenter 42.4 kilometers deep, according to the University of Chile.
La Onemi said that this earthquake was perceived with an intensity of three degrees in various locations in the region of Valparaiso, Viña del Mar, Villa Alemana, Quillota and Puchuncavi and two degrees in the country's capital.
