7 tremors in 30 hours
posted on: Mar 24 2010 11:14 by Royston. Viewed 428 times.Two earthquakes of magnitude 3.4 degrees were felt yesterday in La Romana and a third of 3.2 degrees in Cotu last night, bringing to seven the number of earthquakes felt in the country within 30 hours.
Of the other four earthquakes, one occurred on Sunday and three on Monday.

In La Romana the quakes were at 6:45 am and 2:34 am. Cotu felt the movement at 9:59 in the evening.
The first was centered 55 kilometers from La Romana at a depth of 133.5 kilometers and the second quake struck 34 kilometers from La Romana, at a depth of 113 kilometers.
The third tremor of 3.2 degrees was recorded 27 Km from San Francisco de Macoris at a depth of 73.4 km.
The tremors were reported by the Seismological Institute of the University of Santo Domingo (UASD) and the Seismic Network of the University of Puerto Rico.
The Sunday quake occurred at 10:53 pm, with an intensity of 4.6 degrees, with an epicenter 30km from Puerto Plata and effects were felt in Sosua and Santiago It was followed shortly after by two aftershocks of 3.3 and 3.2 degrees on the Richter scale.
