Aerodom has invested US$ 329 million in ten years of concession

DDesde to the Dominican State awarded the grant of administration of the public airport terminals at airports Dominicans century XXI (Aerodom), in the year 2000, invested $329 million in equipment and improvements in image, safety and efficiency of services

Reported that the director-general of the firm, Andrew, O'Brian, the original contract signed by Aerodom provided that the investment required to ensure the level of operation laid down in the airport was $292 million. On that occasion became a projection of growth in the flow of passengers in all seasons, which was abruptly changed by the attacks of 11 September 2001 and with new needs the amount of the investment was extended to $329 million.

O'Brian notes that implementation of the budget which will be completed at the end of 2012, is certified by the Dominican State through the Airport Commission and the u000aMinistry of works public.

Works include the readjustment of the airport El Catey Samana; the reconstruction of the runway for landing and takeoff of the María Montez international airport, Barahona, the work of waterproofing and adequacy of the perimeter fence and other area, with a version of RD in $30 million pesos.

Joaquin Balaguer International Airport executed work amounting to RD$ 70 million for the completion of the second phase of angares and the construction of the building of facilities for the Executive, aviation is included in the plan of incentive to this type of trips made by President Leonel Fernández.

South terminal
currently is completing the renovation of the South terminal of airport international Las Américas José Francisco Peña Gómez (AILA), where the areas of registration of passengers and steps away from security to migration were also reconstructed u000awith investment of more than RD$ 450 million.

Also built four helipads in Joaquin Balaguer international airport which will be ready by end of year. The latest draft referred to contractual budget is the remodelling and expansion of the airport Gregorio Luperón in the first half of 2012, with an investment of RD$ 300 million.

According to O'Brian, when completed this first stage of the investment programme will define future in coordination with the State actions

The corporate director of operations of Aerodom, Raúl Berroeta, stressed that every month the company carries out a survey to passengers, by area, which has emerged the suggestion to improve the passage of security towards migration.

"Has expanded the area taking advantage of the remodelings;" the number of x-ray machines was increased from four to six and expanded the tables for the placement of the hand baggage to the u000a"passengers can rid load before putting it in the basket that passes by the inspection team", said.
