AI calls for the arrest of George w. Bush during his visit to Africa

Amnesty International (AI) yesterday asked the Governments of Ethiopia, Tanzania and Zambia to stop the former American President George w. Bush "for his involvement in torture" during a visit scheduled for this week.

As it did during the Bush trip to Canada in mid-October, AI said that former US President is guilty of "crimes under international law", which implies that "there a haven for the perpetrators of torture".

The London-based organization has sent missives in this respect to the ministries of Justice of Ethiopia, Tanzania and Zambia, countries which Bush plans to visit since yesterday and until the next day 5 to draw attention to the fight against diseases such as AIDS, breast cancer and cancer of uterus.

A month before Bush visit Ottawa, AI sent on 21 September the Canadian Government a memorandum which detailed the alleged legal responsibility to Bush in human rights violations allegedly committed between 2002 and 2009 as part of the programme of secret CIA arrests

Among the tests identified by AI is the admission by Bush that authorized the simulated drowning and other "enhanced interrogation techniques".
