Alicia Alonso receives tribute in Cuba by 80 years of his dance debut
posted on: Dec 31 2011 8:13 by RDugey. Viewed 14 times.The legendary dancer, choreographer and Director of the National Ballet of Cuba (BNC), Alicia Alonso, was honored with a gala commemoration in the great theater of Havana (Sachs) by the 80th anniversary of his debut in the dance.
Alonso received prolonged applause of the public to his arrival to the theatre and at the end of the function, when he came on stage to revere the tribute that offered new generations of dancers from the company. Visibly excited the artist thus recalled his first release on the stage on December 29, 1931, when at age 11 he danced in a presentation of the school of Ballet of Pro-Arte Musical society at the teatro "Auditórium" of Habana.
The tribute, transmitted live by one State television channel, opened with the projection of fragments of videos from the best-known balés interpreted by Alonso, who marked his long career as a dancer, from which he retired u000a1995.
The programme made an overview of their choreographic works such as the waltz of the first act of "Sleeping in the forest", "Precious and air", "the magic flute,"Symphony of Gottschalk"and the Grand pas de quatre.
