Almost two million Dominican Facbook users

The number of Dominicans with Facebook profiles reached almost two million according to various Internet sites that measure the social network.

As of yesterday the statistics from Socialbakers.com indicate that there were 1,822,200 Facebook Dominican profiles, while the Internet World Stats website in August last year set the figure at 1,080,960 users. That's an increase of 760,000 users in five months, or around 152,000 new accounts every month.

Ailin Lockward, the executive director for Intec's Extension and Service Department said the tool is becoming increasingly important to businesses, especially for entrepreneurs because it provides access to user data and consumer behavior.

He said that this year and especially those who follow similar tools will play a leading role in business development, entrepreneurship and economic decisions.
