American arrested for illegally importing medicines from Panama
posted on: May 13 2010 8:31 by Royston. Viewed 761 times.The Directorate General of Customs (DGA) has seized a shipment of medicines, valued at more than 4 million pesos, being brought into Las Americas airport from Panama.
According to the Customs report, Cristian Castaos Martnez, an American, and Jimmy Alberto Javier Luna, a Dominican, brought in four bags of drugs from Panama, on Copa airlines flight 270.
The shipment included; 1,680 units Gamalate B, 14,760 units Dolo-Neurobin, 3,795 Canesten V. Capsules, 122,800 tablets of Dorixina Relax, 1,116 tablets of Dramamine, 6,384 Plavix and 880 hydrocortison tablets
The report indicates that the drugs were produced by Nova, Merck, Bayer, Roemmers, Shering, Sanofi-Aventis and Pfizer.
A customs spokesman said "Those involved in this illegal trade will be submitted to justice, through the Office of the province of Santo Domingo, for violating the laws governing imports of goods and Public Health, which regulates the marketing of medical products in the local market."
