American arrested with drugs in his underwear

A Puerto Rican American was arrested at the General Gregorio Luperon International Airport in Puerto Plata trying to leave with  76 bags of white powder, presumed to be cocaine or heroin.

The detainee was named as Miguel Angel Mendez, age 30, who lives in New York, and was scheduled to travel there on Jet Blue Flight 812.

Mendez was arrested after x-ray machines detected the packets, weighing over 1Kg, in his underwear.
