Announce an electrical project of US$ 400 MM

The generator of electricity Haina (EGE Haina) company will invest US$ 400 million in the expansion of its power of 600 to 900 megawatts generating capacity that will be reflected in a growth of 50% of their operations.

The information is offered by Edgar Pichardo, President of EGE Haina, at a press conference in which presented the plans of expansion of the company for the next twenty months.

He said that with the growth projects that are developing, EGE Haina will have a generating capacity installed which will account for 25% of the energy of the national interconnected system (SENI), strengthening its leadership position as the largest company of generation of Dominican Republic.

Within the plans announced by the President of EGE Haina is the construction of the plant Quisqueya 2, in the municipality of the same name, located five kilometres from the city of San Pedro de Macoris, which u000aIt will require an investment of 300 million $.

Is also the construction of the second phase of the Park wind Los Cocos, Juancho, flints, amounting to US$ 100 million that will allow the expansion of the capacity of EGE Haina from wind-77 25 megawatts of power generation.

The Chairman of EGE Haina stressed the Alliance of people old Dominican Corporation (PVDC) and EGEHaina, which will result in energy largest park of the country, with a total capacity of 430 megawatts: from 215 of Quisqueya 1 of PVDC plant and the plant Quisqueya 2, EGE Haina. 215

During the press conference, the general manager of EGE Haina, Tito Sanjurjo, explained the characteristics of the plant Quisqueya 2, which will operate with the latest technology more efficient in the market.

"Quisqueya 2 will have a generating capacity of 215 MW." It will operate with a composition of 12 dual fuel engines u000a(fuel_oil_/gas_natural) coupled to a steam turbine, which is a technology of combined cycle without precedents for use in the country ", stressed.

Executive Vice President of the Dominican Corporation of State electric companies (CDEEE), Celso Marranzini, considered that the 13th of December will be a historic day for this country by new investment in the sector.

"In these three years, thanks to the confidence that this country gives to investment in the electricity sector, are going to increase generation capacity in about 900 megawatts," said.

Considered that this increase in the generation, as well as that could help meet the demand that would result for the year 2014 because of the expansion of regulated customers, help reduce the costs of the North (Edenorte) electricity distribution company, because this energy will be injected into that u000apart of the country.
