Another nurses' strike

These centers will be attended only for emergency care, said the union leader.
This 12-hour strike, according to the leaders, is to highlight the government's indifference to the nurses demand to be included in the committee discussing the salary increase for doctors.
Minerva Magdaleno, president of the National Union of Dominican Nursing Services (Unased) explained that on April 29, at the National Palace, she handed over documents containing their demands, including a wage increase of 100 percent, creating 1,500 places for nurses and pensions for nurses.
"The government will have to understand that a nurse can not live on 9000 pesos a month and that its policy of ignoring us has to change if it wants peace in the hospitals," she warned.
