Attorney General adds weight to fight against LPG fraud
posted on: Feb 24 2010 8:37 by Royston. Viewed 370 times.The Dominican Attorney General, Radhames Jimenez Pena, met with all the different tax jurisdictions in the country and instructed them to act against fraud in the sale of liquefied petroleum gas to the public.

The action is to be carried out in coordination with the National Institute for Protection of Consumer Rights (Proconsumidor).
The meeting, held at the headquarters of the Agency, was attended by the director of Proconsumidor, Altagracia Paulino, and Jimenez Pena announced the appointment of assistant attorney general, Frank Soto, as a liaison between the two institutions.
"You can imagine the millions of pesos involved in this scam against housewives, said Pea Jimenez in a statement after the meeting.
He said that action to prosecute this crime, which was begun by the Proconsumidor director, deserves the support not only of prosecutors, but also the general public.
In turn, Proconsumidors director said that the performance of prosecutors had been a fundamental support in the fight against such abuses.
Paulino announced Proconsumidor will acquire more testing meters to continue the inspection and testing of the packaging plants throughout the country.
