UU., Barack Obama, marked yesterday at a military ceremony in North Carolina the end of the war in Iraq, nine years after the invasion planned by George w. Bush, and stressed that the result is a "stable" country.
On his first trip to the military base of Fort Bragg since that assumed power in January, 2009, Obama pointed out the fact that American soldiers will return Iraq "not with a final battle, but a March back home", is a "historical".
In the speech in a hangar crowded Fort Bragg, Obama marked distances with the message of "mission accomplished" that Bush gave two months after the start of the war in March 2003, despite the fact that the conflict was still far to stay closed.
Arropado by soldiers and their families, Obama spared no thanks troops for the "extraordinary work" in Iraq, which, he said, has allowed leave after Yes u000a"a stable nation and sovereign".
Obama, which decided in October that troops withdraw from Iraq before 31 December, acknowledged that the Arab country "is not a perfect place" and has many challenges ahead, but stressed that it has achieved "a representative Government chosen by its people".
Withdrawal from Iraq mark the end of a conflict which Bush justified before the international community with accusations that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction and links with extremists of Al Qaeda in Afghanistan, facts that were not tested.
