Beds look empty units against cholera

Units specializing in the care of patients with cholera installed in major hospitals in the capital remain virtually empty, receiving an average of two and three patients daily with diarrhea, or symptoms of the disease, which is located under epidemiological control in el country.

However, the health centers maintain a strict monitoring of any case of diarrhoea which comes to these units to avoid the possible resurgence of outbreaks, as occurred during the peak of the epidemic that affected the country for several months last year.

The Deputy Director of the hospital Materno Infantil San Lorenzo of the mine, Paul Wagner, said that the number of patients with diarrhoea who comes to the unit is minimal and that long time is not reported a positive case of the disease which manifests itself with acute diarrhea and untreated in time causing rapid dehydration that can lead to death.

Also the Coordinator of the unit of the hospital Luis Eduardo Aybar, José Reyes, cholera said that diarrhoea cases arriving at the Centre are below normal and coming four to five patients daily with diarrheal problems, contrary to months ago, when the number of patients exceeded 30 to 35 each day to that area.
