Blue Flag recognition for Bayahibe

The European Union recognized the efforts carried out by the Association of Hotels of La Romana-Bayahibe in order to maintain the Blue Flag certification of its beaches.
The first Blue Flag beach of the Americas was hoisted on the Viva Wyndham Dominicus Palace in 2004.
Other local beaches have joined the eco-friendly trend and are now displaying Blue Flags.
The following hotel facilities are now boasting Blue Flag beaches: Be Live Canoa, Catalonia Gran Dominicus and the Iberostar Hacienda Dominicus.
The award was presented by Irene Horejs, European Union Ambassador in the Dominican Republic, to Ana Garcia, the Association’s Executive Director.
The Blue Flag of the Americas was hoisted for the first time on the Viva Wyndham Dominicus Palace beach.
Blue Flags are now displayed on the beaches of the following hotels, all located in the same area: Hotel Oasis Canoa, Bayahibe, Iberostar, Hacienda Dominicus and the Dominicus public beach.
