Bogus environmental inspectors collecting cash from businesses
posted on: Feb 9 2010 9:48 by Royston. Viewed 347 times.The Provincial Director of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Mr. Carlos Heriberto Finke Herrera, warned of illegal practices being carried out by groups of people posing as officials from his Ministry.

They were attempting to defraud others, especially entrepreneurs and foreign investors.
Finke Herrera issued a statement saying; "The Provincial Department of Environment and Natural Resources based in Puerto Plata, informs entrepreneurs, business owners and the general public that this institution does not make demands for cash payments of tax.
He added, "We have no employees authorized to perform the task of collecting such taxes."
Responding to reports that fraudsters have been attempting to extorting business owners, using the name of his institution, he said the relevant authorities are investigating and will bring the culprits to justice.

no suprise, targeting foreign investors and young entrepreneurs i s the Domonican way of life, jail them, use the law to make examples of them instead of a slap on the wrist for ripping off foreigners, the justise system is nothing but a joke if you're a Dominican, there's no laws for them
