Local police are investigating the murder and have not ruled out a crime of passion. Information provided by a friend of the diseased, Franklin Cambero Garca indicated that she was last seen on the day of her death with her alleged boyfriend, Hector Amauris de la Cruz, from San Pedro de Macoris.
Police say they recovered a red penknife from the scene and are investigating all avenues. Unconfirmed local reports suggest that Interpol are involved.
Denise D'Courtenay, a millionairess and former model, owned three apartments in the Dominican Republic. She was also the owner of the Queen Anne strip pub in London, England. She had run the venue for more than 30 years, but had been planning her retirement, according to friends.
Her daughter Naomi Robinson, 39, said last night: 'I will not rest until the person responsible is caught.'
Medical examiner Freddy Salazar arranged for Ms D'Courtenay's body to be moved to the Regional Institute of Forensic Sciences in Santiago where a post mortem will be carried out.
