Bust of Duarte will be in China

A statue of the patrician Dominican Juan Pablo Duarte will be erected for the first time in Beijing, the capital of the People's Republic of China, where the next year will be carried out various activities to celebrate the anniversary of the independence of Dominican Republic.

The trade representative in China, Rosa Ng, visit in Santo Domingo, Dominican told LISTÍN DIARIO that the statue is sculpted by the artist Yuan Xikun, and will be exhibited in his famous Jintai Art Museum with the busts of other patricians Americans such as José Martí and Simón Bolívar.

Ng explained that Xikun pledged to carry out the work which will be financed with a contribution of the Chinese Government of one million Yuan (about 160,000 dollars) for the sculpture, and noted that his develación will mark one of the most important moments of the celebration of the patriotic anniversary in China.

Activities will include an exhibition of Dominican paintings describing the u000anational history, as well as a cycle of Dominican film in Beijing with the screening of six films and the visit to Santo Domingo from a group of academic Chinese.
