Cable TV reaches 30 percent of Dominican Republic
posted on: Jul 28 2011 11:55 by The Reporter. Viewed 745 times.The president of the Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (Indotel) revealed that penetration of cable television in the country ranges between 25% and 30%, according to the latest statistics by the institution.
Chairman of Indotel, David Pérez Taveras, said the TV paid subscription model is experiencing a growth stage that will result in an increase in the number of services offered to consumers.
He appreciated the expansion of industry into the country and predicted further growth.
"The joint service of voice, data and video, also called triple play, has allowed better content and also promotes social inclusion," said the chairman of Indotel.
The Indotel president spoke at the opening of the Tepal 2011 Expo Convention, held yearly whose main organized by the Telecommunications Companies and Associations of Latin America.
Tricom is a Dominican telecommunications company and a founding member of Tepal, and served as host of the event.
Tepal 2011 meets for three consecutive days and is for companies and institutions from all member countries which include Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Curacao, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela.
