Canadas Head of State arrives to meet Fernandez
posted on: Mar 9 2010 11:38 by Royston. Viewed 798 times.The Governor General of Canada, Michaelle Jean, arrived in The Dominican Republic today after visiting Haiti. Jean was born in Haiti and emigrated to America in 1968.
She has held the post of governor general since 2005. She was in Haiti in her capacity as Governor General of Canada and to represent the British monarch.
Her agenda in this country includes a meeting with President Fernandez and the declared purpose according the Canadian ambassador, Todd Kuiack is to strengthen relations between the two countries.
She is accompanied by her husband Jean-Daniel Lafond, and in addition to meeting with Fernandez, she will attend meetings with business leaders, NGOs and also visit places of interest in the city of Santo Domingo, said a note from the embassy.
