Cardinal calls on new SCJ to evaluate all judges

The cardinal Nicolás de Jesús López Rodríguez made a call to the new Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ) to assess all the judges of the judicial system, on the grounds that there are many statements that have no legal basis or justification.

The members of the Superior Electoral Tribunal (TSE), Constitutional Court and Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ) will be as Tuesday morning and will take possession of their posts on Wednesday following.

The Archbishop of Santo Domingo, also considered, in the case of criminals and drug traffickers has been much condescension, and understands that "this cannot be allowed".

"My first request to the new SCJ is to begin to assess all the judges and that there are fewer temporary judges, who are those who are making mischief, said.

López Rodríguez pointed out that the titular judges throw aside when they are unwilling to compromise on a sentence "and it is there" u000a"where the interns do their barbarities".

In the edition of last Friday, in his editorial, LISTÍN DIARIO pointed out that the Supreme Court of Justice has a vital mission ahead,: proceed to the evaluation of all judges and undertake a purge which becomes urgent to clear those who by venality or interest and convenience, have had a poor performance.

Judges last week the Council national of magistrates (CNM) unveiled the names of the members of the high courts that were created in the new Constitution.

The Supreme Court chairs the jurist Mariano Germán and it is comprised of other 16 judges. The TSE it presides over Mariano Rodríguez and so are also other nine titular judges and alternates.

While the Constitutional Court chairs it the lawyer Milton Ray Guerava and includes it other 12 judges.

Christmas message
the Cardinal López Rodríguez gave the u000astatements after officiating mass on the occasion of the birth of Jesus in the Cathedral of Santo Domingo at noon yesterday, after being interviewed by representatives of the media who were present at the liturgy.

From the old cathedral, the Archbishop sent a message of peace to the citizens, on the occasion of the celebrations of Easter.

Through your message López Rodríguez asked the Dominican people that live in peace, and he hoped to families every day feel more United and that there are more opportunities for work.

It also recommended that the Dominicans to shelve the passions and to further unite to celebrate the holidays of Christmas and new year.

He urged politicians to seek reconciliation and peace among themselves, with regard to the elections in May next.

In the same way, López Rodríguez invited parishioners understand the true meaning of the birth of u000aJesus.

SE expect DECREES in this week
Jorge Subero Isa was dismissed as President of the Supreme Court of Justice, but chosen as a judge of that Court, nomination not accepted.

The previous day he had resigned the Deputy Judge of the Superior Electoral Tribunal (TSE), Alfredo González, and the National Council of the judiciary instead chose Emilio Narciso count Rubio, who also resigned.

It is expected that this week President Leonel Fernández issued the decrees appointing new staff in posts that remain vacant.

Including the Decree of the replacement of the current Prosecutor Alejandro Moscoso Segarra, who was elected judge of the SCJ, and Mabel Féliz, Director of the national drug Council, who was elected titular judge of the Tribunal, among other public positions.
