Chancellor rejects allegations against the country of Canadian newspaper

"The Supreme Court of Justice of the Dominican Republic has ruled on several occasions on the issue of the children of illegal immigrants, whatever their origin, which confirms that if those children born of parents legally in transit are excluded automatically obtain nationality, the children of those who cannot justify its legal entry or stay in the country cannot benefit of one higher law", pointed out.
Pointed out that the "apatriación" here is not in discussion, because article 11 of the Haitian Constitution provides that "everyone born of a Haitian father or Haitian mother who are Haitians of origin and have never renounced their nationality, have Haitian nationality at the time of his birth".
Added that administrative measures implemented by the Central Electoral Board u000aDominican since 2007, to detect and correct the high number of irregularities affecting the Civil Registry, have been considered legitimate by the Supreme Court.
Also highlighted "the inaccuracies of the journalistic publication" as regards the general hearing convened by the Inter-American Commission on human rights in October 2011, during which a group of non-profit organizations stated that the Central Electoral Board of the Dominican Republic had not responded to its request for information with respect to 417 cases of people allegedly affected by the suspension of the issuance of new copies administrative decisions of birth certificates, the subject of an investigation of their documents.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs stated that while these hearings should, by their nature, be individually for each applicant presenting individual cases, the delegation u000aDominican in the audience replied confirming that the Central Electoral Board received only 120 forms of records of the NGOs, of which 80 were duly investigated and answered and 20 were returned due to lack of supporting documentation.
