Double veto of Russia and China in the UN Security Council yesterday prevented the maximum organ of international security speak with single voice before the violent repression of the Syrian regime exercised against its population over the last eleven months.

Following this rejection, thirteen countries who voted yes for this resolution, backed by Arabs, Europeans and Americans, placed on Moscow and Beijing responsible for the future status of Syria, where security forces staged a new episode of bloody, killing, according to the Syrian opposition, at least 260.

Of "shameful", "scandalous", "unforgivable", "unacceptable" and "accomplice" rated most of the countries the decision of Russia and China, who justified their respective positions on the grounds that both sides must put an end to violence and to avoid interference in internal affairs.

Justifies rejection
the u000aRussian Ambassador Vitali Churkin, justified its rejection stating that resolution - which sought a way out of the crisis of Syria through support to the transition plan proposed by the Arab League - calling for "regime change" in Syria, what Russia is opposed and he appealed to the result of the trip to his Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, will do to Damascus the next few days. Churkin accused "some influential member" of the international community of "have eroded the opportunity to AP (reaching) a political agreement, calling for regime change and supporting the opponents", at the time who stressed that its rejection of the resolution "has never been a secret".

This is the second occasion in four months than those countries veto a resolution of condemnation of the Council to the dictatorial regime of Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad, whose violent repression has caused more than 6,000 deaths in recent months, according to the British Ambassador Mark Lyall u000aGrant.

"United States is disgusted," stated his Ambassador, Susan Rice, while assured that for several months "this Council has been held hostage by two members" and added that "this intransigence is more shameful, if possible, when one of the members of this body provide arms to that country", referring to Russia, the main supplier of weapons to Damascus.

"It is a sad day, but we won't stop here." "We will continue to work with the Arab League, its plan is on the table," said Ambassador of France, Gérard Araud, who insisted that it will continue to "intensifying pressure" so that the European Union (EU) to extend sanctions against Damascus.

Added that "some countries have obstructed systematically the actions of the Council" and accused those Nations, Russia and China, of being "accomplices of the policy of repression of the Syrian regime".

France representative stressed that his country felt "a" u000a"great concern on this sad day for this double veto, which is also to the Syrians and to all Democrats". "It is a scandal." "This Council should vote against Al-Assad", said German Ambassador Peter Wittig.
