The Conference Episcopal Venezolana (CEV), at the close of his ordinary plenary Assembly, his concern expressed by "oppressive polarization" in the country, and stated that the "highest priority" should be "reconciliation from Venezuelans".
"The desire and the need for reconciliation means restore national coexistence based on respect and mutual appreciation, the effective recognition of the political, ideological, cultural and religious pluralism, and the corresponding tolerance toward others," said the President of the CEV, Bishop Diego Padrón, to read a document of the Assembly of prelates.
Polarization has intensified in Venezuela during the almost thirteen years of mandate of President Hugo Chávez.
Bishops, that u000ain the past have been open critics of the Government, in this opportunity refrained from making some mention on President Chavez.
The CEV said that to overcome the polarization is necessary a "shared common project", while he rejected "the imposition of a specific project for a country that involves the political exclusion of those who do not accept it".
