Concern over supplements in processed milk

He voiced his concern over this practice and claimed that these plants use very little milk in the procedure.
Espinal said that all this happens at the same time as dairy farmers producing fresh milk are discriminated against in all social programs like the school breakfast, with which has made many students ill..
He said that if farmers were offered the facilities and protection of government and livestock officials, they would have the capacity to produce one million liters of milk per year, but in the current circumstances and with the problems they face, they are able to produce only less than half a million liters.
Of this amount a large proportion is lost for lack of a market, while the rest is sold in different towns of the country.
Espinal complained that the national livestock industry requires a revaluation by government, comparing the situation of the heavily subsidized European farmers.
He said that in the past the authorities promised milk producers they would participate in social programs but they had chosen to allow the use of powdered supplements in processed milk.
