According to the bank, the new note has accentuated orange and yellow hue on the front at the bottomcovering the lithographic design. The upper band is wide, with an engraved design of the Boca Chica Indian decorated with diamonds on a zig-zag.
The Deputy Manager of the bank, Jose Clemente Taveras, said the new version of the bill will be maintained in circulation together with the previous one.
He insisted that the confusion with the new bill was down to the fact that most people were not aware of the statement they released earlier in the year.
The Central Bank released a statement saying, "First, it must be clarified that the Central Bank has not confirmed that counterfeits notes of the value of RD $ 50.00 are circulating in the country.
"In fact, the description of the features alleged to be fake correspond with the new RD $ 50.00 bill that was recently put into circulation, and were made public through notices published in the national press and on our website.
"The notices stated that we are currently circulating two versions of the bill of RD $ 50.00
