Counterfeit medicine labs raided

Viewed 529 times.The Director General of Customs (DGA) and the Ministry of Public Health have raided two laboratories engaged in the illegal manufacture of drugs. The labs were in Los Alcarrizos and Pantoja, Santo Domingo and officers seized manufacturing equipment and materials to make Ampicilin, Motrin, and Diclofenac, among other medicines. They arrested one man, Angel Peguero Brito, who admitted owning the equipment.
The DGA reported that, after investigations, members of the Intelligence Department accompanied by Health Ministry officials went to a house on 4th Street in Los Alcarrizos, where they found two machines for making tablets as well as materials for manufacturing blister packs.
Acting on information gathered at the first house, the team moved on to another house in Patna where they found two machines working as well as materials to make ampicillin, catafln, ibuprofen, diclofenac and motrin. The officers also found a container of the raw material for the manufacture of ibuprofen.
Customs said that the raids were carried out under Law 22-06 , Article 156 of the General Health Law, number 42-01, which criminalises the "manufacture, importation, exportation, distribution, storage and / or marketing in any form, fake medicines, adulterated, expired, relabeled, smuggled, unregistered medicines and any medications altered chemically or physically "
