Cutting edge technology will be 28,000 producers this year

In 2012 will be added to the production, with high-tech, more than 28 thousand farmers in different areas of the country through two programs with an investment of $64.4 million, equivalent to RD$ 2,479 million.

is the second stage of the programme of support to the transitional competitive agri-food (PATCA), financed by the Inter-American Bank of development (IDB) for US$ 34 million, and the project Pro Rural West, $30.4 million from the International Fund for agricultural development (IFAD).

With the implementation of the Rural Pro will benefit more than 19,000 farmers in the provinces of Barahona, Bahoruco, independence, flints, Azua, San Juan de la Maguana, Elías Piña, Valverde, Santiago Rodríguez, Dajabon and Montecristi.

In, PATCA II will benefit 9,400 farmers, in addition to 13,712 producers benefit in the first phase of this project which concluded in 2011, the u000awhich contributed to improving the quality of agricultural products -

with the implementation of these programmes, agriculture drives advances in the application of modern technologies to improve food production and reduce poverty, especially in the provinces border.

Of the 19,000 Pro Rural beneficiaries, 16,000 will be small producers with potential to join actively in rural businesses, and three thousand young men and women, micros entrepreneurs.

The Minister of agriculture, Salvador Jimenez, stressed that these programmes are part of the strategies of the Government to boost food production of agricultural origin with modern technologies in the field.

With the two projects would benefit 28,400 producers who will have the opportunity to improve their productive activities and to overcome the levels of poverty.

La Fundación Sur Futuro and IDB noted the novelty and scope of u000aprogrammes of technology transfer running agriculture to improve food production and competitiveness.

The aim CENTRAL DE LOS DOS programs
the PATCA II and the Rural Pro have, among other objectives, job creation, strengthen food security and provide mechanisms for long-term rural development in the country. PATCA I at the level of technology implementation left incalculable results and increasing production and agricultural productivity, improving the quality of life of the rural population, direct and indirect employment generation and the increase in the value of the productive infrastructure.

El PATCA II is the result of the excellent execution of the I PATCA, which benefited 13,711 producers and was chosen for its good performance again.

Millions of PESOS the amount
of the two programmes, financiandos through the IDB u000aand Pro Rural West, entails an investment in national currency up to RD$ 2,479 million, which is expected to an improvement in access to production technology.
