Dengue control initiative in Puerto Plata
posted on: Jul 23 2010 8:3 by Royston. Viewed 645 times.The Ministry of Health and Welfare, has begun an extensive program to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds in several locations in Puerto Plata in an attempt to control the spread of Dengue fever.
The information was provided by Dr. Wady Musa, Provincial Director of Health, who said work crews will be mobilized in all sectors of Puerto Plata spraying and eradicating mosquito breeding sites.
The Public Health Officer in the province said that he had the support of all neighborhood associations of the areas targeted for action and he had held meetings on Monday with representatives of those social institutions to coordinate the fumigation work.
Other organizations offering support for the initiative are; the City Council, the provincial Government, the Dominican Medical Association, the National Police, Northern Air Command, and various hotel groups.
