Dental unit with solidarity service

The limited access to dental services for people with limited resources, even more when it comes to the specialized care that are virtually inaccessible to the population in general.

In 2002 came in the country the unit of postgraduates of Dentistry of the Universidad Iberoamericana (Unibe), and immediately offered dentistry specialized services at low prices to the needy population, says José María Heredia, director of the entity. In this unit are specialists which, at the same time, provide services, highlights.

First steps
José María Heredia said that the first services were those of Endodontics, which are the treatments of channel. In 2005, he joined the Pediatric Dentistry and orthodontics, to put "bracers".

Also added in 2007 surgery and implants and periodontology and implant.

The mouth rehabilitation for the reconstruction of missing benefit u000athose who have lost one or more teeth is available since 2008.

Heredia emphasizes that in addition to being the first to provide specialized services of dentistry to the community with fewer resources, now they have all specialties.

Daily they attend the unit around 200 people who are referred to hospitals, public dental centers and private.

They are served by teachers who meet the best ratings in their respective branches.

For this reason, the service provided is comparable to that they offer in their private consultations, but they are not at their disposal, says its director.

The cost of services is around 15% of what they cost in average private practice, stresses Heredia.

Says its director, the unit also offered continuing education courses in all the areas, which ensures the recycling of information and knowledge for its graduates and for the u000aprofessionals in the country and abroad.

Mainstreaming among his students of nacionalides of Venezuela, Spain, Italy, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Mexico, Peru, Italy, Guatemala has allowed the internationalization of their tuition fees, said Heredia.

Facilities

There are operating room for surgery of implants, surgical microscope, units of digital radiography, ultrasound, laboratory, among other services.
