Developer Cuts Off Homeowners

Blissett, manager of Trade Winds, Garden Condos and The Palms in Sosa, had dozens of piles of limestone - some 6 to 8 feet high - dumped across public streets that property owners use to access their homes late Wednesday. One road, a dead end, serves twenty properties, and four homes, and is the only access these residents have to reach Sosa. On this road there are a dozen piles of limestone, completely cutting off the road. Vehicles can not pass, and even motorcycles have to be walked over the obstructions. Delivery of food and construction materials have had to turn back. Residents are wondering who will be held responsible if someone dies because they can not reach a hospital. One homeowner believes this is another attempt to force rightful owners to abandon their properties. "Many of these homes and lots have been sold when abandoned without title to unsuspecting foreigners. When it comes time to receive title, since one doesn`t exist, actions are taken to make it very difficult to live in the homes they bought and they leave. And this is done over and over again." Lawyers have contacted Blissett on behalf of the homeowners demanding he repair the damage and remove the obstructions, but as of Tuesday morning no work has been performed and the obstructions remain. Blissett did not answer calls asking for a response. Residents contacted say the plan to petition city hall and the Sosa fiscal today to force the developer to repair the damage immediately or face arrest.
