DNCD charges 3 officers with corruption
posted on: May 28 2010 7:47 by Royston. Viewed 777 times.The National Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) on Thursday announced they were charging a lieutenant colonel, a major and a special agent with the attempt to sell four out of five kilos of cocaine seized during various raids.
According to DNCD spokesman, Col. Ramon Alcides Rodrguez Veras, the accused are; Lt. Col. Francisco Vargas Urea from the Police, Major Edwin Herrera Martnez from the Air Force, and special agent Andrs Julio Segura Cceres.
Rodriguez Veras said through a press release that recommendations had been made for the men to be removed from public service.
He explained that investigations carried out by the DNCD had determined that the defendants formed a group to commit acts of corruption, specifically, selling drugs seized by the DNCD from suspected drug traffickers.
