DNCD officer to face prosecution for possession of marijuana

The information was given by the spokesman on drugs, Roberto Lebron, in a statement delivered on behalf of Maj. Gen. Rolando Rosado Mateo, DNCD chief, who had received direct reports that Second Lieutenant Jos Jimnez Polanco had been acting outside his duties as an officer.
Over the past few days details have been becoming clearer about the events in Montecristi.
It seems complaints had been received by various people in the town, including the local priest, about the errant officers activities.. This eventually resulted in a raid on the hotel where Polanco was living. The action was led by Colonel Pedro Manuel Nin Suero, accompanied by the local prosecutor Jacqueline Zapata. This resulted in seizure of 128 packets of marijuana and led to the supposition that Polanco had been intending to sell the drugs.
Lebron said the case was formally reported to the Chief of Staff of the Army, as Polanco is an army officer. He was handed over to the prosecutor and his fate is now in the hands of the investigating judge for the area.
"Under no circumstances will we tolerate a member of the DNCD being involved with drugs, because it is unfair and at odds with the principles and values that are proclaimed in this institution. This is an example that we are making so that others do not make the same mistake, said. the spokesman.
