Doctors protest against non payment of 15% rise
posted on: Sep 9 2010 9:56 by Royston. Viewed 409 times.Doctors and nurses have been protesting outside the gates to the Finance Ministry after waiting since August 15th for their promised 15% pay rise. 
Luis Hernandez from the Finance Ministry met after the protests, with representatives of the health unions of the Dominican Social Security Institute (IDSS ). He explained that approval of the increase had been held up in congress but promised that the situation would be resolved shortly..
Representatives of Dentistry, Nursing, Psychology, CMD and others met with Hernandez..
Senen Caba, CMD president, said Hernandez told them that by Monday or Tuesday, the increase would be paid. He warned that protests would start again if this did not happen.
