Dominican First Lady presents her Strategic Plan for next 2 years
posted on: Feb 18 2010 8:35 by Royston. Viewed 325 times.First lady Margarita Cedeno de Fernandez presented her 2010-2012 Strategic Plan during a ceremony at the National Palace in Santo Domingo.

Cedeno de Fernandez said the purpose of the Plan is to help Dominicans living in extreme poverty.
Included in the list of aspirations, is to provide medical services to at least 163.070 people in a period of two years. Also planned is to educate around 1.5 million women in breast cancer prevention and raise awareness in at least half the population.
She explained that 15,655 micro-loans would be offered and 45 production cooperatives created as well as giving technical training to 98,655 people.
Other information offered by Cedeno de Fernandez indicated that they will work to create 100 community technology centers and to create 20 pediatric emergency units across the country.
The First Lady spoke to government officials, representatives of the media and civil society institutions, and said that the mission of the office she heads is to contribute to the welfare of families and provide organizational support.
Cedeo de Fernndez stated that the work begun in 2004 by her office will be expanded and strengthened in the Strategic Plan for 2010 to 2012 to reduce the level of vulnerability of the poor and to reduce poverty levels in the country.
