Dominican Republic - the frozen paradise

Expats are unlikely to get much sympathy from home though, after the long hard winter in North America and Europe.
Dozens of tourists were stranded on Sunday afternoon in mountainous regions, mainly in tourist areas of Constanza, where a dense fog covered many roads. Temperatures in that region dropped to an icy 9C.
The fog and rain over the weekend were caused by a stationary frontal system, which remained over the Dominican Republic until noon yesterday, causing an unusual decline in the normal temperatures for this time of year.
The source of the chilly blast is the winds from the N.E. coming down from the U.S. after all the winter storms since February.
The latest forecast is for the rains to stop and temperatures to remain pleasant at least until mid week.
