Dominican Republic planned to attack New York

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, yesterday announced the arrest of a man "sympathizer" of the network Al-Qaeda that was planning attacks in the city, in what is the fourteenth occasion in which the authorities dismantled a plot to harm in the Big Apple since the 9/11.

Arrested, 27-year-old who has been identified as José Pimentel, was arrested Saturday by police and already presented charges against him for two offences: conspiracy to make a bomb for terrorist purposes and possession of weapons to commit an attack.

Bloomberg explained at press conference, accompanied by the head of New York, Ray Kelly, police and the Prosecutor in Manhattan, Cyrus Vance, Pimentel is a "lone wolf" who learned to make bombs in a magazine from Al Qaeda on the internet, "impaired" by the presence of troops of United States in Iraq and Afghanistan.
