Earl continues North West, away from Dominican Republic

Viewed 542 times.The center of Hurricane "Earl", which has reached Category 4, stayed away last night from the small islands of the Lesser Antilles and Puerto Rico, although it caused heavy rains and flooding throughout the area, said the USA National Hurricane Center (NHC ).
Turks and Caicos and the Bahamas maintained a tropical storm warning as well as Puerto Rico the islands of Culebra and Vieques and the U.S. Virgin Islands .
The hurricane continues its march toward the United States. At 7:00am today it hovered about 175 miles north-northwest of San Juan, carrying maximum sustained winds of 135 miles per hour. It was travelling west-northwest at 13 miles per hour.
Fiona is forming in Earl's wake, but it's force and potential route are not yet clear.
