Layoffs, proposed by Prensa, owner of the newspaper La Prensa in New York, might be accompanied with more employees on the street in the next six months or within a year, according to its Labour Union.
The maneuver, which has already affected other newspapers in Spanish in United States, now strikes a Rotary which shall comply with 99-year history in 2012.
"I hope that they will not forget the product printed.
""The audience of the newspaper is not people who necessarily read the news on their iPads or iPhones", said William O' O'Meara, President of the Union of employees of The Newspaper Guild.
