Natural gas costs declined from US$ 4,314 to US$ 3,887, and coal remained at US$ 71.65. While the monthly average exchange rate increased from RD $ 37.29 to RD $ 37.30 pesos per dollar.
It was explained that as a result of the above variations, the electricity tariff indexed for December showed an increase of 2.73% percent compared to November, and to decrease the gap between indexed and applied rates, which for November was 25.10%, they were obliged to increase the basic cost of electricity supplied.

The executive vice president of the Dominican Corporation of State Electrical Companies (CDEEE), Celso Marranzini, announced Tuesday the 'Income Recovery Project Using Automatic Measurement Systems' (PRISMA), which seeks to increase billing and collection by measuring electricity consumption remotely for 86,165 commercial, industrial and residential clients.
He reported that the plan, whose investment is estimated at US$ 9.2 million aims to improve the monthly billing of 352.4 gigawatts of energy, representing approximately 35% of the electricity purchased by distribution companies, and detect fraud situations.
