EU disburses EUR 9 million for RD

Viewed 20 times.The European Union made a disbursement of nine million euros, in Dominican pesos signifying RD$ 460 million, to be used as budgetary support in the institutions dealing with the goal of making that Dominican enterprises are becoming increasingly more competitive.
The director of the Directorate-General of Multilateral cooperation (Digecom), Domingo Jiménez, expressed that the disbursement made in the form of sectoral budgetary support of the European Union seeks to impact indicators that arise in the national strategy of development in the party that has to do with the competitiveness of this country.
He said that this budget support programme has a duration of three years and was preceded by a plan on strengthening of the institutions responsible for implementing these resources.
"Only after a positive assessment of any progress made during the 2011 in the implementation of the programme," u000a"we have been able to submit to the authorities in Brussels a document requesting and approving the disbursement of the first tranche of budgetary support and that we have achieved today (yesterday), will sign a document confirming the disbursement of these nine million euros," said Irene Horejs, charge of the delegation of the European Union in the country
Stated that the disbursement of is directed towards the Dominican Republic budget which, in turn, it shall be distributed to the different entities that are responsible for implementing all necessary measures to improve the competitiveness of the sector enterprises private.
"That is globally what have come to do and I have no more than thank the efforts of all entities that have been involved so that this disbursement is possible", stated.
Jiménez pointed out that the resources will be implemented through projects which comply with the procedures of the new national system of u000aPlanning and public investment (SNIPP).
Actions
looked "with actions aimed to achieve institutional strengthening, for ensuring the effectiveness of this important cooperation channelled through the Office of the national authorising officer of the European funds", said Jimenez.
Indicated that the actions by the Office of the national authorising officer are complementary policy run by the Government for the benefit of the productive sectors of the country.

responsible for the European delegation in the country, Irene Horejs stated that regardless of that there is a change of Government or not in the next elections, the country cooperation programme should develop as planned, because the commitments were made with the State and not with the Government's turn.
"Our support is part of a program that goes to the Dominican State." u000a"We only desembolsamos if you can verify the effective implementation of the measures that are planned, so since September we were working on the development of the performance of the work of the National Council of competitiveness and of all subsidiary entities, such as public procurement, quality system, Ministry of industry and Commerce and different associations of undertakings", he said.
