Experts advise communicators

Viewed 13 times.The Ministry of environment and natural resources, the Organization of American States and the Centre for studies and projects economic and social held yesterday here a workshop in which geared towards social communicators on seismic events, and the need to educate society about these phenomena natural.
In his introductory remarks of the meeting, the directors of the Ministry of environment and of the Centre for economic and social surveys, Radhamés García and Domingo de la Cruz, stressed the importance of the seminar, in moments of intense seismic activity in the country, and the role communicators and journalists can play to guide citizens.
As exhibitors acted experts on seismology, Franco Orlando and Luis Peña, who explained the seismic history of the island, failures that they cross or are in the seas surrounding and the major earthquakes over the centuries u000arecent.
Also, engineering professionals spoke of the earthquakes in other latitudes, tsunamis and lessons drawn from them, especially of Japan, Chile, Indonesia and Haiti, to establish policies of prevention.
Franco referred especially to the earthquakes, their magnitudes and the policies to be established in safety in buildings, as well as education to citizenship to cushion the negative effects on human and material losses and the failure still prevent them.
